The Bitter Springs @ The Lexington

I know it's been a while and I haven't been looking after this blog as much as I should. It's been a busy time time though. Last Saturday I was with THE BITTER SPRINGS at The Lexington in Islington supporting THE MONOCHROME SET. Great gig to be involved in and a great crowd turnout too.

Andy Solo is progressing well. I've been in the studio a couple of times. 5th February and 2nd April to be precise. The first session I recorded the backing for Money Can't Buy Me Love, It's Over, What I Wanna Do and Moving To The Country. The next session saw the recording of My Soul is on Fire, Every Street in Every Town, Every Step of the Way and I'm So Glad. I'm aiming to do another session in early June. I've been touting for live gigs as well, so I'll be playing locally soon. I'll be playing at THE NONSUCH TOWN AND COUNTRY SHOW on SATURDAY 24th JUNE at 2pm with a full band and THE HINDHEAD MUSIC FESTIVAL on SATURDAY 15th JULY as a solo performer.

Studio This Week

Just one more rehearsal this week with bass and drums (or should it be drum'n'bass!!) then a day in the studio to record 4 songs!
The songs are complete and I've done a few open mic gigs to bash them into shape. The songs have been received well. I didn't do the full week of open mic gigs as planned - I came down with a cold on the Wednesday.
But, all in all, I've now done 10 open mic gigs since October and that's something I wanted to do. The video you can see here is "Moving To The Country" from the Tuesday open mic at The Swan in Hampton Wick. It's the first video of me taken so far.

The Open Mic Tour - January 2017

During the tail end of January I'm embarking on a string of open mic nights so close together I think I can get away with calling it a "tour."

I won't be straying too far as they all are quite local, except for one.
The list so far is.....

Sun  22 Jan  Richmond           The White Horse
Sun  22 Jan  Sunbury             The Magpie
Mon 23 Jan  Claygate             The Hare and Hounds
Tue  24 Jan  Hampton Wick    The Swan
Wed 25 Jan  Chiswick             The George IV
Thu  26 Jan  Hampton Court   Henry's Kitchen
Fri    27 Jan  Richmond          The Dukes Head
Sat   28 Jan  Soho                 The Kings Arms

They are all free to get in so I'd like you to come along as they're all quite near and it would be good to see some familiar faces.

Happy New Year

Last Thursday was the last outing for 2016. The open mic night at Henry's Kitchen in Hampton Court had to be moved at the last minute to The Swan in Hampton Wick. Songs performed were, "Sometimes" and "All I Wanna Do." That's it for this year and there's been some great gigs - The highlights were.....

Serious Chord Squad Supporting The Complete Stone Roses at The 100 Club - Twice! Supporting Geno Washington at The Half Moon in Putney - Twice! Supporting From The Jam at G-Live in Guildford. Supporting Chris (Out Of Time) Farlowe at The Restrofestival in Newbury.

The From The Jam gig was the biggest gig I've done in a long time. When I arrived and saw all those seats stretching into the distance - Gulp!

Serious Chord Squad had some great gigs in their own right as well. The first time we played The Railway in West Hampstead, which used to be the legendary Klooks Kleek venue in the 60's.

Solo Andy stuff is taking shape, on the verge of finishing off the 10th song. I've done 6 open mic sessions to test out the material and it's going down well. Another rehearsal this week and the recording studio is booked for the first Sunday of February. Let's see what happens!

From The Jam Gig - The Film

Recently, Serious Chord Squad supported From The Jam at G-Live in Guildford on Friday 2nd December. Sean Cooke who presents the Monday Mod show on Radio Woking made a film of the Serious Chord Squad set. We had a great time playing and we really nailed it that night. Great venue, great crowd.

Hope you enjoy watching the video and If you did how about giving the SERIOUS CHORD SQUAD FaceBook page a like!

From The Jam Gig

Well, that's The From The Jam gig done and dusted. We all had a great time. Massive stage, massive venue. The sound quality was awesome and as a gig we nailed it. We had a good sized crowd from the off. It was good to see some familiar faces, even the Egham crowd who turned up en masse! Thanks to Sean Cooke from Radio Woking's Monday Mod Show who photographed and filmed us for his latest "rockumentary." There was even an impromtu stageside interview just before we went on.

There's only a couple of Serious Chord Squad gigs left for this year. The first one kicks off on Saturday 17th December at.......

It's the former legendary MOD venue KLOOKS KLEEK and has a great atmosphere. FREE admission for this one, be there for 8:30pm

On the Sunday we have a special end of year SQUAD party. Another one of our LAZY SUNDAY AFTERNOON specials. This is a DAYTIME gig from 3pm to 7pm, so that you can bring your family and is great for a scooter ride out.

We're all really looking forward to this one. Big stage, big P.A. big venue.
We had a warm up gig last Friday that went really well. although, the original gig in Ascot was cancelled we managed to get another gig at the CEDAR TREE in Bagshot at Short Notice. Some people from Ascot even travelled over to see us.
